Uttam Sugar Mills Ltd. was founded as Associated Sugar Mills Ltd. on October 4, 1993. M K Swarup and his relatives were the original firm promoters. The former supporters sold all of their shares to Uttam Group in 1998, and the firm has been under the exclusive management of Uttam Group ever since. Uttam Sugar Mills Ltd replaced Associated Sugar Mills Ltd as the business's official name as of November 24, 1998.

The company's first sugar facility, equipped with cogeneration facilities producing 6 MW of electricity, was established in Roorkee, Uttarakhand, in January 2001. This unit had a capacity of 2500 TCD and was used to make sugar using the double sulphation process. After lengthening the length of the cane conveyor and installing new evaporator bodies, centrifugal machines, and other equipment in November 2001, they were able to increase production capacity to 4000 TCD.

The business added a 3 MW cogeneration plant and 5000 TCD expansion in November 2002. They expanded their cogeneration plant to 16 MW of electricity and boosted their installed capacity to 6250 TCD in 2004. This was done in tandem with an update to the current Defeco Remelt Phospho Floatation process and a higher throughput.

With the passing of September 15, 2005, Shubham Sugars Ltd. ceased to be a subsidiary of our Company. The firm's second facility, a 3500 TCD and 10 MW cogeneration power plant, was established at Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh, in December 2005. The firm issued 40,000,000 Rs. 10 equity shares at a premium of Rs. 330 per share, for a total of Rs. 1360,000,000, during the 2005–2006 fiscal year. Their stock may be purchased via the National Stock Exchange and the Bombay Stock Exchange.

The firm's third unit, with a 4500 TCD capacity, was established in Muzaffarnagar, Uttar Pradesh, in November 2006.
