Andhra Sugars, a company formed in 1947, produces and sells sugar as well as organic and inorganic chemicals. Tanuku, Kovvur, Guntur, Taduvai, Saggonda, and Ramagiri in Andhra Pradesh have edible and non-edible vegetable oils and generate non-conventional power. Sugars are produced at a rate of 5000 TCD at the Tanuku plant and 2500 TCD at the Taduvai facility. The first stage of production at the Alcohol factory in Tanuku is producing Molasses, the essential ingredient for Sugar, at a rate of 15 kilos of liquid per day.

However, this was later raised to 30 KL daily. Co-generation of electricity from bagasse is now being implemented.

About 112,000 metric tons of caustic soda can be produced each year at the factory. Caustic soda factories produce hydrogen and chlorine as waste. To keep up with the projected demand for Caustic Soda and other products from the Chloro-alkali Industry, the production capabilities of the Saggonda facility were raised from 100 TPD to 175 TPD. Andhra Sugars also has a Co-generation power plant in Taduvai and a 2.025 MW wind farm in Ramagiri.

The firm needs reliable, cheap power since it operates two caustic soda plants, which use electricity as one of its primary inputs with salt. The firm's second public offering, valued at Rs. 11.30 million, was released the same year, 1994. The DCDA process was added to the facility's sulphuric acid plant, and an in-house developed aspirin granulation mill was put into operation.

The new chemical complex at Saggonda includes a 250 TPD sulphuric acid unit. An NCD rights offering was released to help fund the endeavour. The first and second instalments of NCD were redeemed by the firm in February 2000 and February 2001, respectively, as stated in the Letter of Offer. JOCIL Andhra Farm Chemicals Corporation and Hindustan Allied Chemicals are branches of JOCIL. ISRO has chosen the firm to establish a factory to produce HTPB.
