The Dave and Merchant families, who acquired Swan Energy Ltd. from the J.P. Goenka Group in 1992, are the current owners and managers of the firm. Swan Energy Ltd. (Formerly known as Swan Mills Limited) was formed on February 22, 1909. The corporation operates in three markets: textiles, energy, constructions, and others. The corporation operates via six wholly-owned subsidiaries.

Two affiliates are involved in the real estate industry, while two more are building the LNG Port Project in Gujarat. One of the subsidiaries is involved in infrastructure-related work, while the other has shut down. One of these is a wholly-owned Singaporean subsidiary with a foreign parent that has discontinued operations and is in the process of being struck off the Singaporean register. There are five subsidiaries based in India.

The BIFR plan only called for the spinning facility, Swan Mills, to be brought back to life. The corporation began taking contract employment across all areas in 1993–1994. Most (80%) of the mill's processing capacity is dedicated to job work. The corporation sold off surplus land through the BIFR package. The firm turned around and started making money again in 1993–1994. The corporation has implemented a modernization initiative using the proceeds from property sales. It began selling to major European shops, including the British department store Marks & Spencer, via merchant exporters.

By forming Vini Rayon Industries as a partnership with the Gujarat Industrial & Investment Corporation, it branched out into producing cuprammonium rayon yarn. This pilot plant will be located in Jagadiah, Gujarat, and was built in collaboration with Ralston & Associates from the United States. The firm was certified and released from BIFR's care in December 1995. Since the Voluntary Retirement Scheme was implemented, all manufacturing has ceased since all operational employees and personnel have decided to retire voluntarily.

The SEL purchased a 0.3mn square foot IT Park building in Bangalore's Whitefield EOIZ Industrial region during FY 2014. The building is complete and has a signed lease with a reputable multinational corporation. Indian Oil Corporation (IOC), Bharat Petroleum (BPCL), ONGC, and GSPC inked LUTUAs in 2017 for 4.5 MMTPA of the initial 5 MMTPA capacity. In August 2016, Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) Contracts were completed and awarded for the Port Terminal.

Site building works began after receiving approval from the Gujarat Maritime Board in December 2016. The EPC contractor has finished a significant chunk of the Dredging work, and construction is progressing rapidly on-site. In May 2017, a letter of intent was given to the Topside EPC Contractor. On October 17th, 2017, SLPL and Swan Energy Limited (SEL), the Gujarat Maritime Board (GMB), Gujarat State Petronet Limited (GSPL), and FSRU Venture India One Private Limited (FVIOPL), a subsidiary of Mitsui OSK Lines (MOL) of Japan, executed a Shareholders Agreement (SHA) for SEL's equity participation in SLPL. Following the deed's execution, each promoter has made an initial contribution to the company's equity share capital.

On October 18th, 2017, Swan LNG Private Ltd. (SLPL) and the Government of Gujarat (GoG) signed a Concession Agreement (CA) for the development of an FSRU-based LNG Port Project. This agreement grants SLPL the exclusive right to plan, raise capital for, design, build, manage, maintain, and provide the Port's services to its customers. Upon mutual agreement, the CA may be extended for a further 20 years, bringing the total duration to 30 years from the date of Commencement of Operations.

In FY18, SLPL entered into a 20-year Bare Boat Charter agreement (BBC) with Triumph Offshore Private Limited (TOPL) to charter a Floating Storage and Regasification Unit (FSRU). In FY18, SEL's subsidiary, Triumph Offshore Private Limited (TOPL), signed a Ship Building Contract with M/s Hyundai heavy Industries Company Limited South Korea (HHICL) to build 1 FSRU with a storage capacity of 180000 Cubic Meters (CBM).
