Formed from what was once known as Prakash Tubes, The steel division and the lighting division are two of Surya Roshni's many departments. The steel division has been in business since 1974, producing ERW steel pipes and tubes, cold-rolled shaped sections and profiles, and CR strips. Since 1983, the lighting sector has made products, including FTL filaments, GLS filaments, sodium and mercury vapour lamps, and glass shells for GLS lights.

Manufacturing of halogen and ornamental lights is now complete at the firm. Its current project is a backward integration effort to create drawing lines for FTL tubes made of ribbon glass. Two GLS lamp groups, one GLS lamp filament, and one automated FTL packaging machine were finished in 1995–1996; the remaining GLS caps, GLS chains, and FTL filaments are in various stages of implementation. GB Glass (UK) and Falma (Switzerland) provided the relevant technology for the endeavours above.

These are the GLS lamp designs that are in the works. The ribbon glass shell and tube drawing projects will conclude in 1998. In 1995–1996, we finished GLS filaments, lamp caps, and electrostatic coating. Except for ribbon shells, all of the goods are reserved for in-house consumption only. With Osram, Surya Roshni founded a company called Osram Surya Pvt Ltd to produce CFLs.
