AB SKF Germany, the parent company of SKF India, is a world-renowned provider of bearings, seals, mechatronics, lubrication systems, and services, including technical support, maintenance and reliability services, engineering consultancy, and training. The firm serves the automotive and industrial industries in Northern and Peninsular India from its facilities in Pune, Bangalore, and Haridwar.

After opening its initial factory in Pune in 1965, the company expanded to include three factories, twelve offices, and 450 distributors. Indirectly and directly, the company provides its goods and services to more than 40 sectors. As a leading producer of deep groove ball bearings, the company has a solid foothold in the industrial and automotive markets. Through its five technology-centric platforms, including bearings and units seals mechatronics lubrication solutions and services, the company can provide customized options for automotive, agriculture, construction, food and beverage, oil and gas businesses, metals, and other industrial sectors.

The Company's history dates back to when it was first established on April 12, 1961, when ball bearings were its primary product. Production at the company's first facility, located in Chinchwad Pune, began in 1965 to meet the growing demand for the company's wares. Next, in 1989, SKF India opened its cutting-edge manufacturing for SDGBB in Bangalore. CR Seals India Pvt. Ltd., which opened a factory in Bangalore in 1997, eventually merged with SKF in India to form what is currently known as SKF Sealing Solutions India Pvt. Ltd. In 2002, SKF became the first bearing firmly in India to be awarded ISO/TS-16949 for its Automotive Business Unit. The same year, it also opened the SKF Center for Learning.

In 2004, the company opened a facility for the development process called the SKF Application Development Center. Similarly, in 2004, SKF India bought out Vibration Engineer and Consultants Pvt Ltd. As of September 2005, the company began using the "Direct Customer Delivery" model instead of its "Indenting Commission Business" for importing SKF bearings to speed up delivery times. The firm was named the best in India's bearings industry by Dun & Bradstreet and given an American Express Corporate Award in 2006.

Its power transmission equipment first entered the Indian market in February 2007. Parts and components such as timing belts, v-belts, chains, couplings, sprockets, and pulleys are available. In November 2008, SKF India formed a long-term partnership with wind power company Suzlon Energy to provide bearings for Indian wind turbine manufacturer Suzlon Energy. The transaction is worth an estimated Euro 303 million. The 2008 Auto Monitor Awards Green Manufacturer of the Year went to SKF India.

SKE India announced the start of construction of their new factory in Haridwar, Uttarakhand, on April 27 of that year. By the beginning of 2010, the cutting-edge SKF technology will fully function. The corporation wants to hire around 200 individuals and spend Rs 150 crore on the endeavour. The automobile industry in India is the target market for this facility.
