Sagar Cements, founded in 1985, is a mini-cement manufacturer that uses the most cutting-edge and generally acknowledged dry-processing kiln technology in the world to produce clinker and ordinary portland cement (OPC). For pollution prevention and environmental defence, it has also installed an electrostatic precipitator system.

Sagar Priya is the brand name under which the company's OPC, SRC, and IRS T-40 grade cement are sold. Coastal areas, harbours, dockyards, bridges, sewerages, and effluent-carrying drains employ SRC that meets IS-12330 criteria. In 1993, it installed a slag dryer, cement mill, and packaging plant to create a slag cement grinding unit. Compared to ordinary Portland cement (OPC), slag cement is more resistant to soil and water with high concentrations of alkali metal sulphates, alumina, and iron, as well as acidic waters. As a result, it may be put to use in maritime applications and along the shore.

To boost output, the clinker unit was enlarged. Sagar Power, a subsidiary, was formed when the government granted permission to construct mini-hydel power plants on the GBC and KC. Sagar Cements will use 100% of the electricity produced by this plant.

Its Mattampally business invested another Rs. 250 million (approximately US$4 million) in 1996 to establish a second mill with a capacity of 20 tph.
