After acquiring the operations of M/s Bhavna Construction Co. on October 3, 1988, Sadbhav Engineering Limited (SEL) was constituted as a private limited company and awarded ISO 9001:2000 certification. The company's primary focus areas are constructing roads and highways, irrigation, and mining. The Institute of Economic Studies in New Delhi has recognized SEL for its outstanding performance in productivity, quality, innovation, and management with a certificate of excellence. The Company's core workshop in Ognaj, Ahmedabad, is where the Company's dedication to providing high-quality, on-time service to its clientele is meticulously maintained.

In the fiscal year 1989–90, the Company received a contract for the first Canal Project from the Sardar Sarovar Narmada Nigam Limited (SSNNL). At the close of the 1992–1992 fiscal year, SEL met the turnover requirements to be classified as a Deemed Public Company. In 1992–1993, the business undertook its first excavation project at a mine.

With the signing of the contract "Strengthening and Widening of Sambalpur-Rourkela Road from L&T" in 1993, the company's construction division had its first taste of the action. Since entering the road business in 1995, Sadbhav has earned a solid reputation. In 1996, the company bought its first road construction project from private sector firm Reliance Industries Limited (RIL). Specifically, they were tasked with constructing roads at RIL's Moti Khavdi, Jamnagar, township, and refinery site.

In 1999, SEL received four work orders for canal development from SSNNL totaling around Rs. 151 crores. After completing its first canal siphon over the river Vatrak in 2002, SEL changed its status to that of a Public Limited Company by a new Certificate of Incorporation dated 17th May 2001. At Gujarat Industries Power Corporation Limited's (GIPCL) Vastan Mines, the Company successfully bid on and won the contract to mine lignite and remove overburden in 2003.

In October 2005, SEL received the Excellence Award from the Institute for Economic Studies (IES). In 2006, the company went public and began receiving contracts from the Government of Andhra Pradesh's Irrigation and CAD Department. In 2006-07, the company expanded its operations outside Gujarat by securing three contracts in Andhra Pradesh at Rs. 216.35 crores.

In 2006–07, SEL formed a joint venture with PBA Infrastructure Limited to build roads for the Multi-Modal International Hub Airport at Nagpur (MIHAN) Project Complex. The project's total cost is 14236.21 lira, of which 7118.10 lira comes from the company's portion. The Nagpur-Seoni Expressway project was kicked out in September 2007, and it is an annuity-based project with a concession duration of 20 years, 30 months of which are spent on construction. During the 2007–08 fiscal year, SEL partnered with JMC Project (India) Limited to build a new four-lane Agra bypass in the Indian state of Uttar Pradesh as part of the North–South, and East–West Corridors Program, Phase II.

In May 2008, the business commenced commercial operations on its initiative to build a ring road around Ahmedabad. In June of 2008, Sadbhav Engineering paid an undisclosed fee to have its wholly-owned subsidiary, Sadbhav Ocean Bright Corp, buy a 74% share in Ocean Bright Corp of Hong Kong.
