In 1960, the Rajasthan Spinning and Weaving Mills Limited (RSWML) was established. The Bhilwara company, which has holdings in many related businesses, is behind the initiative. CEO Shekhar Agarwal and Vice Chairman L N Jhunjhunwala run the show at the corporation they co-founded. With the help of a Rs 157 cr Euro-issue in 1994, RSWML was able to fund its lofty goals of increasing spindle by 18800, adding 24 looms at each unit, and establishing a process house at its Banswara facility with the ability to process 156 lac meter of fabric per year.

Polyester/viscose, 100% viscose, 100% polyester sewing thread, 100% acrylic polynosic blends, silk blends, viscose/flax, polyester/cotton, and 100% cotton melange yarn are all part of the company's product offering. In 1993–1994, it agreed to work with Hydro Quebec International Canada to build the 86 MW Malana and 192 MW Allain Duhangan projects in Himachal Pradesh.

It sells its wares in India under the recognizable Mayur brand name and ships them to European and American markets. There are now sales offices in Italy, Belgium, and the United Kingdom. In 1997–98, the company's joint venture with Australian and Belgian partners, Bhilwara Melba De Witte Ltd., dominated the market for car decorating fabric.

It commissioned 4.2 MW each of power plants for captive use in 1998–1999 and boosted its installed capacity of spindles and looms to 131376 numbers and 157 numbers, respectively.

PNB has approved a term loan of up to Rs.24 crores for the Yarn Dyeing project at MandpamLooms in Gulabpura, and work on the modernization plan is already underway. Acquisition of HEG Ltd's Rishabhdev Textile Mills business was authorized by the Board of Directors and became effective on April 1, 2003.
