One of the most significant infrastructure builders, Reliance Infrastructure Ltd (RInfra), uses a network of SPVs to build projects in fast-growing industries, including power roads and metro rail in the infrastructure sector and the defense industry, respectively. Power generation, transmission, distribution, and trading are all areas in which Reliance Infrastructure Ltd excels, making it a formidable utility provider.

RInfra's SPVs have carried out several infrastructure projects, including a construct, own operate, and transfer (BOOT) Mumbai metro rail project and eleven BOT road projects with a combined length of roughly 1,000 kilometers. RInfra partner Reliance Naval & Engineering Ltd maintains India's most extensive dry dock for constructing warships and other military vessels. Formerly known as Bombay Suburban Electric Supply Ltd (BSES), Reliance Infrastructure Limited changed its name to BSES Ltd on October 1, 1929, and is now known as Reliance Infrastructure Limited. After the 2 x 250 MW Generation Project at Dahanu was finished in 1995–1996, the firm saw rapid expansion. In 1996–97, a further 224 MVA of installed capacity was commissioned, bringing the total to 1382 MVA. In that year, they officially opened the Aarey Receiving Station. An additional 120 MVA capacity in the 33 kV / 11 kV distribution network was commissioned during 1997-98, bringing the total installed capacity of the system to 1502 MVA.

After GPCL evaluated proposals for small to medium liquid distillate fuel (naphtha) based projects in Gujarat, they decided to issue a letter of intent to the Company for constructing a 57 MW power plant with a short gestation period in Dahej in the Bharuch District.

In 1998–1999, the firm installed seven 33/11 KV 20 MVA transformers and two 33/11 KV 15 MVA transformers for transferring electricity from the Dahanu Power Station. At an anticipated cost of Rs 41 crore, the business has undertaken a 7.59 MW Wind Farm project in the State of Karnataka, consisting of 33 Wind Mills.

As of March 2000, the firm was operating as 'BSES Telecom,' an ISP in Mumbai with a fiber optic network supporting its last mile services and investigating partnerships to provide utility solutions.
