Incorporated on September 13, 1984, as a Private Limited Company to market the products of group concerns like Hawaii Slippers, LightWeight Slippers, Canvas Shoes, PVC Footwear, etc., Relaxo Footwears Limited (RWL) is a subsidiary of the Relaxo Group, a company with a major interest in the production of footwear. On March 31, 1993, it was changed to a Public Limited Company.

Relaxo is available on every major online shopping platform and has a distribution network of 394 Exclusive Brand Outlets throughout India. Top sellers from the company include Relaxo, Sparx, Flite, and the Bahamas. Eight of its modern factories in Bahadurgarh, Bhiwadi, and Haridwar are now turning out slippers, sandals, and sports and casual shoes.

As of the 1995–96 fiscal year, the firm has expanded from its previous role as a "Trading/marketing agency" to that of a "full/fledged manufacturing unit," with a plant in Bahadurgarh, Haryana, capable of producing 50,000 pairs of Hawai and lightweight chappals per day over two shifts.

This endeavour was partially sponsored by Rs. 4.50 crores raised via RWL's initial public offering (IPO), which was priced at a premium of Rs. 50 per share for a total of Rs. The Bahadurgarh plant's capacity was increased by the firm in 1999.

During the 1999-2000 fiscal year, the firm established the most advanced Hawai manufacturing factory in India in Bhiwadi (Rajasthan). In July 2001, commercial production at this new facility began. Through enhanced inventory management and the development of a versatile supply chain, the firm spent FY 2016 fortifying the business's back-end infrastructure.

It adapted to new technologies by modernising its ERP and reporting systems. The Relaxo brand benefited from the Firm's methodical retail growth, strengthening the link between the company and its end consumers. The company began retail operations in Madhya Pradesh, Himachal Pradesh, and Chandigarh during the fiscal year 2017. It also launched a net of 20 new retail shops throughout India.

New, bigger storefronts have been built to accommodate customers better and display the company's whole product line. The firm has implemented electronic wallets at all retail locations to promote cashless transactions. It has also released a smartphone app for online shopping, targeting customers who like to do their shopping from the convenience of their own devices. In addition, it launched several bargain shops to sell off surplus SLOB stock at steep discounts.

Relaxo's strong additional revenues may be attributed largely to the company's strategic endeavour to simplify the distribution network during the fiscal year 2018. The Company has reached a major milestone by launching its 300th premium retail location in FY 2018. Today, retail is crucial in expanding product availability and brand recognition.
