Regarding agricultural inputs, Rallis India Limited is at the top of the game. Established in 1964 as Tata Enterprise, the Company has become an industry leader in crop inputs and now has a presence at every stage of the agricultural input value chain. To improve agricultural output and farmer income, it promotes a suite of goods that cover the whole crop cycle. With 6800 dealers and 93,000 retail locations, it offers a robust channel network and a broad product offering.

Incorporated on August 23, 1948, as Rallis India Limited. The business does R&D, manufactures, and sells crop protection and nutrition products. In the areas of crop protection, crop nutrition, and seeds, it offers products that are both safe and sustainable. It serves local and foreign markets with its Crop Protection line of fungicides, herbicides, and insecticides, including Active Ingredients in bulk and branded formulations. Moreover, micro and secondary nutrients, water-soluble fertilizers, organic fertilizers, and biopesticides are all part of the Crop Nutrition portfolio that aims to serve the home market.

Its Agribusiness branch sells agricultural inputs such as pesticides, fertilizers, micronutrients, seeds, animal feed, and other products. Two of its factories, at Ankleshwar and Dahej, are in Gujarat, while the other two are in Maharashtra (at Lote and Akola). In the 2000s, the business stopped selling Monsanto seeds. In 1999–2000, the firm began manufacturing a variety of surfactants based on ethylene oxide condensates for exclusive use in its agricultural formulations.

This resulted in savings for the business. In 2000 and 2001, the firm set up shops in Dhar (MP) and Patancheru (near Hyderabad) to process seeds. In Patancheru, they built a quality control and storage facility for their research infrastructure. Regarding toxicity and entomology, Bangalore's Rallis Agro Research Centre is unrivaled. German health authorities Bundesgesundheitsammt (BGA) have approved its facilities and Good Laboratory Practices (GLP) for research. The company's Fine Chemicals business has two facilities in Tamilnadu: at Ootacamund and Cuddalore.

Because outsourcing production to other parties is more cost-effective, the business has halted production at its Cuddalore factory. Rallis produces and distributes the industry's finest agro-based tanning ingredients from various types of wood. The Fine Chemicals Division's Gelatin business was sold to Sterling Biotech Ltd. in 2004. Rallis has merged with another company and plans to sell off its remaining assets as part of a company-wide effort to streamline operations.

Rallis has made the first move in this direction by merging its five companies, most notably Ralchem Ltd. Rallis Hybrid Seeds Ltd, Rallis Farm Management Services Ltd, Sankhya Garments Ltd, and Rallis Finance & Investments Co Ltd. The corporation has submitted the petitions and is now waiting for a ruling from the court. In addition, it has initiated a merger with its sixth subsidiary, Siris India Ltd. Courts sanctioned the Company's 2003–2004 merger of six subsidiaries into the parent company.

For the sum of Rs.49 Crore, Rallis sold its pharmaceutical division to Shreya Life Sciences Pvt Ltd., a pharmaceutical marketing and distribution firm with headquarters in Russia. This transaction was finalized on June 30, 2001. During the 2001-02 fiscal year, the business also sold its Andheri property to Orchid Print India Ltd., a fully-owned subsidiary of Tata Sons Ltd.

As of March 1, 2003, Rallis no longer distributes bulk fertilizers, and its contract with Tata Chemicals has ended. It is also transitioning from its previous role as a distributor of seeds to that of a sourcing and branding firm emphasizing research and development. For a total of Rs.26 Crores, the business sold its Knowledge Services Business, which included its Bangalore Research and Development Centre, to Advinus Therapeutics Pvt Ltd on April 1, 2005.
