Oriental Hotels Share Price

The Reddy family of southern India's Oriental Hotels contracted with the Indian Hotels Company for management and technical support (IHC). The flagship Taj Coromandel hotel was opened in 1974. In 1975, all 224 of the hotel's rooms were open for business. The firm has been managing the Fisherman's Cove Beach Resort in Madras since 1985 when it signed a management contract with Covelong Beach Hotels (India). It also became the only Emboodhu Finolhu Island Resort operator in the Maldives. The Malabar Hotel in Cochin was leased by the firm in 1985 and underwent significant renovations before opening to the public in 1986.

The firm began running snack bars at Madras Airport in 1988–1989 following an arrangement with the International Airports Authority of India. To raise some of the money needed to restore, remodel, modernize, and enhance its hotels, the company auctioned rights at a premium of Rs 60 in June 1993. During 1994–1995, the firm entered into an operating arrangement with OEL International Hong Kong to provide technical services at its Executive Plaza hotel in Chicago.

With the money from the $30 million GDRs issuance, an owned subsidiary in the United States was established. The business bought a majority share of Coramandel Hotels between 1995 and 1996. The Executive Plaza Hotel Chicago, USA, was sold during a significant reorganization of worldwide operations during the 1999–2000 fiscal year. For its next phase of growth, OHL (HK) will invest in the St. James Court Hotel in London, the Taj Lanka Resorts Limited in Sri Lanka, and the Taj Maldives Pte. Ltd in the Maldives via long-term equity investments.

The Company's efforts to improve and update its hotels' infrastructure was carried out during the 2000-2001 fiscal year. After extensive rehabilitation and remodeling, including the lobby, central block, and guest rooms, the historic wing of the Luxury Resort Hotel Taj Malabar opened to the public in March 2001. Thai cuisine is now available at the Taj Malabar Hotel. During the same period, the resort's 15 cottages that were part of Phase II of the makeover were also updated.

The corporation has seriously considered a proposal to merge with the Covelong Beach Hotel (India) and the Coromandel Hotel. The Hon'ble High Court of Judicature in Madras approved the Company's 2002–03 Scheme of Amalgamation with Orient Holdings Ltd and Fishcove Leasing and Investment Ltd.
