Manufacturing polished leather shoe uppers, shoes, and leather accessories, Mirza Tanners(MTL) was founded by brothers Irshad and Rashid Mirza in 1979. Its exceptional performance and unit value realization among leather footwear exporters earned it two export awards from the Council for Leather Export in the past. Capitalizing the share premium account issued bonus shares in 1996-97 at a rate of 1:1. The majority of the company's exported shoes are in the 85 percent range. It has started selling shoes under its labels, Red Tape and Oakridge, to positive reviews.

Mirza Tanners Ltd leading brand, Red Tape, has become well-known throughout the country. The company is now actively expanding the brand's reach by introducing new products and venturing into untapped regions in 2001.

The Council for Leather Exports presented the Company with three export awards in recognition of the company's exceptional export performance in 1999-2000. The company's capacity was doubled at its Noida Factory with the introduction of Double Density PU shoes.

Sales of this new line of shoes are projected to skyrocket for the company. In 200102, the firm put out Rs.5 crores in Secured Redeemable NCDs via private placement.
