Gulu Mirchandani, Vijay Mansukhani, and Sonu Mirchandani, all members of the Onida group, founded the private limited company that would later become MIRC Electronics Ltd. in 1981. After some time, in 1992, it transformed into a public limited corporation. MIRC is a market leader in consumer electronics goods. It makes the well-known Onida brand of colour televisions (CTVs), air conditioners, washing machines, TV components and spares, and electronic tuners.

Other products that MIRC produces include electronic tuners. Both Akasaka Electronics Ltd. and Imercius Technologies (India) Ltd. are considered to be the parent company's subsidiary firms. Onida Saka and Monica Electronics are two other enterprises that are part of the company. MIRC used the capital market to fund the growth of its CTV business and the company's diversification into the audio industry.

Since July 1995, commercial manufacturing has been taking place at an increased capacity. The firm has also developed cutting-edge wide-vision televisions and audio equipment and opened retail outlets unique to Onida Arcades. During the 1994-1995 school year, the business was given the ISO 9001 certification.

The company's primary focus was on enhancing the penetration of its sales and after-sales support infrastructure while also working to improve its overall strength. 1997–1998 saw the introduction of a new line of goods for the firm named "Techno Value." These items have been met with great success since their first release. In the 1998–1999 broadcasting year, it debuted the WEBCRUISER, the world's first internet TV. It also debuted the PIP in the 25' time slot. The firm began selling multicoloured Candy in the 14-inch TV category during 1999-2000.

During the 2001 fiscal year, it introduced the 29KY Thunder series, one of the world's first television sets to include 650 watts of power. Additionally, it has begun launching a plasma display tube television in conjunction with Fujitsu. Onida Infotech Services Ltd. and MIRC Electronics Ltd. amalgamated into a single entity effective as of the first of April 2001. It was the first device to transform a mono recording into a 5.1 output surround sound and was released in 2001-2002 when it introduced the 29-inch Home Theatre.

In 2003–2004, MIRC decided to withdraw from its non-core business to place more emphasis on its core business. During the same year, the corporation completed the sale of its Onida Infotech division. The shareholders of MIRC were awarded a bonus share allocation in the amount of one share for every existing share they had in the firm as a form of compensation. In the fiscal year 2004-2005, one of the group companies, India Savak Ltd., was brought into the corporation and amalgamated with it. As a result of this merger, its product category now includes Electronic Tuners, which is an additional feather.

The organization's goal is to capitalize on the opportunities the outsourced enterprise's worldwide giants offer. As a result, the company has increased the capacity for producing TVs from 1.8 million units per year to 3.0 million units per year.
