A diversified manufacturing firm that operates not one but two sugar mills, a cement factory, and an engineering arm. For a while, KCP was just a sick sugar unit (cap.: 600 TPD). Velagapudi Ramakrishna, who passed away in 1941, took control of the organization. Due to expansions and the 1988 merger with Challapalli Sugars (a BIFR firm), it has been able to raise its sugar capacity by a factor of ten to 6300 TDP.

A cement mill was built that year to establish India's first dry process plant. In 1955, the corporation began its engineering branch to produce sugar machines. Later, this sector expanded to include the production of equipment needed for cement chemistry, steel castings, etc. In 1994, the cement and engineering departments both earned ISO 9001 and ISO 9002 accreditation. KCP spun up KCP Sugar Industries Corporation to handle its sugar and industrial alcohol operations. The organization has also entered into a partnership with Vantech Industries to produce pesticides. When KCP and FCB France decided to form a joint venture, they split ownership of FCB-KCP evenly.

The new firm's mission is to provide cutting-edge equipment and technology to the sugar industry in India and beyond. On May 15, 1996, the engineering division of the company was granted permission to use the S and U symbols of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) in connection with the production and assembly of power boilers and pressure vessels, respectively. The cement division of the company maintains its ISO 9001 certification.

Among Non-SSI exporters in the industrial machinery panel used in the production of sugar, paper, chemical cement, and medicines, KCP was recognized for its exceptional export performance in 1994–1995. The Nagarjuna Sagar Dam's Guntur branch canal is home to five mini-hydel units with a combined output of 8.25 MW. Power from this unit is sent to the cement factory through a mobile generator.

The firm signed a 20-year contract with Andhra Pradesh Transmission Corporation Limited(APTRANSCO) in 2001-02 to have the energy produced from Hydel stations wheeled to the cement mill for a fixed price of 2%.
