Formerly known as Monnet Ispat Limited (MIL), Monnet Ispat & Energy Limited (MIEL) was officially formed on February 1, 1990. Sandeep Jajodia and Jindal Strips founded the company, which produces and sells sponge iron steel and ferroalloys. In addition, MIEL operates a coal mine and generates electricity for in-house use. The firm has two factories in the Indian state of Chattisgarh.

In 1994, the firm launched its 1 lac TPA capacity sponge iron facility in Chattisgarh at its Raipur location. Commercial production of the new sponge iron kiln, with a capacity of 1,300,000 tons per year (TPA), began in December 2001 as part of the company's expansion project (Unit-II), which was executed in 2001-02. In the fiscal year of 2002–03, the firm formalized its long-term, all-encompassing raw-materials-to-final-product strategy for reducing external margin. The company's merger with Monnet Power Limited became official on January 1, 2004.

In the 2004-2005 fiscal year, MIEL ordered all plant types of equipment with a long lead time. In 2005–2006, the business collaborated technically with the Italian firm Scandiuzzi SRL to establish a steel engineering and production plant in Haldia. Formerly known as Monnet Ispat Limited, the company rebranded Monnet Ispat & Energy Limited in March of this year.

As a result, on March 21, 2006, a new certificate of incorporation was received. We felt that the old name didn't do justice to the genuine essence of our business, so we changed it. In the fourth quarter of the 2007 fiscal year, the firm began producing structural steel at its new factory.

In May of 2008, Monnet Global's international division completed the purchase of PT Anzawara's mining rights to Indonesia's 250 million metric ton coal resource. The company is working hard to become an icon of corporate excellence with a keen eye on how its actions will affect its stakeholders and the wider community.
