The Jindal SAW Limited (JSL), formerly known as SAW Pipes Ltd, is a subsidiary of the Jindal Group that was formally established on October 31, 1984, in Mathura (U.P. ), and was issued a Certificate of Commencement of Business on November 28 of the same year. With plants throughout the USA, Europe, and the United Arab Emirates, as well as three locations in India (Kosi Kalan in UP, Nashik in Maharashtra, and Mundra in Gujarat), this corporation is a significant player in the worldwide iron and steel pipe industry (MENA). Large Diameter Submerged Arc Welded Line Pipes (SAW Pipes), Seamless Pipes & Tubes, DI (Ductile Iron) Pipes, and Stainless Steel Seamless and Welded Pipes are JSL's four main strategic business areas.

Its products may be used in the extraction of oil and natural gas, the movement of people and goods, the production of electricity, the provision of potable water, the disposal of wastewater, the watering of crops, and other industries Large diameter submerged arc pipes, spiral pipes, and bends, and carbon alloy and stainless steel seamless pipes and tubes made using the conical piercing process serve the energy transportation sector. In contrast, Ductile iron (DI) pipes serve the water and sewage transportation sectors.

In the same year of incorporation, a technical cooperation agreement was formed with USS Engineers and Consultants Inc (UEC) U.S.A., a United States Steel Corporation subsidiary, for the transfer of know-how and technical support. In 1986, the first API and ISO-accredited Longitudinal SAW Pipes (U-O-E) Mill for Line Pipes in the country opened in Kosi Kalan. In 1992, we established SAW Pipes USA and commissioned our Kosi Kalan beveling unit. A year later, in 1993, the first significant NACE Pipes supply for the offshore line was carried out.

In 1994, the company's Seamless Pipes and Tubes Division in Nashik and the 3LPE/FBE Coating Plant at Kosi Kalan were commissioned. In 1995, the firm's first export order was fulfilled for Line Pipes, and in the same year, the firm merged with Swastik Foils Ltd after receiving the required clearance from the High Court of Delhi. In 1996, JSL opened the Kosi Kalan location of their CTE Mobile Coating Plant.

In 1997, the firm had already created its Hot Induction Bends Unit in Kosi Kalan, start-up of its 4-meter-wide Plate Mill in Baytown, USA, and a joint venture company to promote its goods in the United States. In 1999, the business opened an Internal Coating Plant in Kosi Kalan and an LSAW and HSAW Line Pipe Plant at the port of Mundra, all of which were accredited by API and ISO. In 2000, the Mundra facility hosted the company's three LPE/FBE Coating Plant and one Internal Coating Plant.

Both the Mundra Bevelling Unit and the Mundra Concrete Weight Coating Plant were re-commissioned by JSL in 2002. In 2003, a second 3LPE/FBE Plant was put into operation in Mundra. Samaghogha, located not far from Port Mundra, saw the construction of India's third LSAW factory in 2004; it, too, has API and ISO certification.

In the same year (2004), JSL and Imphy Ugine Precision France, a part of the Arcelor Group, formed a joint venture under the name IUP Jindal Hexa Metals Ltd to produce high-precision metal equipment for use in electronics and other industries.
