In 1979, Gokaldas Exports Ltd., often known as GEL, was established as a company. Globally, the readymade garment business is dominated by GEL, which is a key participant in the sector. The firm is one of the major manufacturers and exporters of outerwear, including blazers, pants (both formal and casual), and shorts. With effect from April 1st, 2004, Gokaldas Exports Pvt Ltd and Unique Creations (Bangalore) Pvt Ltd were combined with the firm to form the new entity.
In the 2004-2005 fiscal year, the firm opened three new plants in the Bommasandra Industrial Area of Bangalore, two in the Yeshwanthpur Industrial Area of Bangalore, and one in the Doddaballapur Industrial Area of Bangalore. In addition, the firm is making preparations to establish a plant in the Madras Export Processing Zone (MEPZ) in the city of Chennai. In March of 2005, the firm carried out a general public offering of 3125000 equity shares with a price range of Rs.375/- to Rs.425/-.
As a result of this issuance, the company's paid-in capital has increased to Rs.171880000/-. In June 2006, a brand-new washing facility in Bangalore equipped with the most cutting-edge technology was officially commissioned.
Additionally, the corporation established a knitwear plant in Bangalore between 2005 and 2006. During the year, the growth program in Chennai, Hyderabad, Mysore, and Bangalore is also actively being carried out. In addition, the business has started purchasing the equipment needed to produce structured suits, and they expect to build up a suit facility in Bangalore very soon.
