Formerly known as Gujarat Machinery Manufacturers, GMM Pfaudler Limited (GMMPL) is today a world-renowned provider of designed equipment and systems for mission-critical uses in the chemical, pharmaceutical, food, and energy industries. The business's primary focus is producing glass-lined, corrosion-resistant machinery for use in chemical, pharmaceutical, and related industries.

In addition to being India's leading maker of glass-lined equipment, the company also makes various other types of machinery, such as agitated notch filters, high-efficiency mixing systems, PTFE-lined equipment, and wipe film evaporators. Its 20-acre industrial complex at Karamsad, Gujarat, is state-of-the-art. On November 17, 1962, the corporation was formally established, and by 1965, commercial manufacturing had begun.

In 1969, the company acquired the expertise to produce glass-lined machinery from Rampart, Hungary. But time has passed, and this equipment is now outdated. In 1988, GMML formed a technical and financial partnership with Pfaudler Companies US to ensure that it would remain technologically competitive. Pfaudler, a global leader in the industry, recently purchased 40% of the firm and now owns 51% of the business. In 1993–1994, GMML began producing corrosion–resistant fluoropolymer products in technical partnership with Eldon Products, US, and filter dryers in partnership with Rosenmund, Switzerland.

In addition, the business has signed a technological know-how agreement with the American firm Chemineer Inc. to produce specific pieces of machinery used in the chemical processing industry. The capability of GMMPL to build glass-lined reactors and tanks of up to 25000 ltr was increased when it commissioned a new state-of-the-art micro-processor controlled electric furnace in January of 1995. In 1995–1996 in Bhagat (Jamnagar district) Gujarat, the firm erected five more wind turbine generators with a total capacity of 1,000 kW.

The result is nine wind turbine generators for a total of 1800 kW for the business. In 1996–97, the firm established its "re-glassing" section, which refurbishes and "re-glasses" previously used glass-lined machinery. In 2007, the Company and its wholly-owned subsidiaries acquired 620095 Equity Shares of Nile Ltd., representing 20.74% of Nile's equity capital. On January 11, 2008, the company completed its acquisition of Swiss supplier Mavag AG, a market leader in the design and manufacture of mission-critical machinery for the pharmaceutical, bioengineering, and fine chemicals industries.

On February 20, 2013, the Company's ultimate holding company, Robbins & Myers Inc. USA, merged with National Oilwell Varco Inc.(NOV) USA, and as of February 21, 2013, NOV became the ultimate holding company.
