On December 6, 2001, ICICI Bank Ltd. advocated forming a new firm under the name ICICI Infotech Upstream Ltd. A rebranding to ICICI OneSource Ltd. occurred on April 2, 2002. To hasten its foray into the business process outsourcing (BPO) market, the firm, in April 2002, purchased Customer Asset.com with its two subsidiaries. In the same year, they also bought Tawny Dove Ltd. In 2003, they bought FirstRing India Pvt Ltd to provide credit card services and find new customers.

In 2004, the firm bought a controlling interest in Pipal to increase its capacity for research and analysis. They bought ASG that same year to foray into the accounts receivable management industry. To expand into the healthcare market and improve transaction processing, they bought Revit in 2005. In addition, on December 29, 2006, they purchased Business Process Management Inc (BPM) to expand its offerings in the healthcare industry.

In 2006, the business established Firstsource Solutions S A through its subsidiary, Firstsource Solutions UK. In addition, a new Philippine outpost was established. The firm and Metavante formed a strategic alliance in March 2006 to offer an exclusive channel relationship in North America for specific BFSI services.

On November 21, 2006, the business officially changed its name to Firstsource Solutions Ltd. The National Outsourcing Association UK recognized the firm in two categories in September 2005: Offshoring Operations of the Year and Financial Services Outsourcing Project of the Year. According to NASSCOM's yearly rankings, the firm ranked third among Pure Play BPO providers. The 8th Annual IQ Six Sigma Excellence Awards were presented in January 2007 in Florida, where Firstsource took home second place for their work in the Healthcare category. The business agreed to purchase MedAssist Holding Inc. on August 29, 2007, making it the largest healthcare revenue cycle management supplier in the United States. A five-year cooperation agreement was inked between the firm and Barclays U.S. Credit Card Business in February of 2008.

The corporation reorganized in 2009, with the changes taking effect in March, into four distinct business lines: healthcare, telecommunications, the media, banking, financial services, and insurance (BFSI), and the Asia Business Unit (ABU). At an event in San Diego, California, Firstsource was presented with the ERE 2009 recruitment Department of the Year award. In 2010, the firm intended to increase its footprint by establishing a presence in the Philippines as an offshore delivery site for the top 50 North American telecom providers.

They got a foothold in the Australian market by partnering with a cable and satellite television provider.
