Gammon Infrastructure Projects Limited (abbreviated as "GIPL") is a company that specialises in the development of infrastructure projects. It was founded on April 23, 2001, by Gammon India Limited with the intention of taking part in the development of infrastructure projects through the use of public-private partnerships (abbreviated as "PPP").
GIPL is one of the first firms in India to be structured as an infrastructure developer holding company. The company's interests are diversified throughout a number of different industries.
Today, Gammon Group's forays into the development of infrastructure projects on a public-private partnership (PPP) basis are led by GIPL. These forays include airports, special economic zones, water and wastewater management, railways, power transmission lines, roads and motorways, hydropower, urban infrastructure, and power transmission lines. GIPL also leads the development of agricultural infrastructure.
Gammon India Limited, a pioneering civil engineering and construction firm in India with more than 85 years of expertise in this industry, is the company that is behind the creation of this enterprise. In 1919, the late J. C. Gammon created Gammon India Limited as a Civil Engineers & Contractors firm. In 1922, the business was incorporated as a corporation and given the name J. C. Gammon (Bombay) Ltd.
The business is envisioned as a project developer that would make investments in SPVs for the purpose of financing infrastructure projects. In addition to this, it is now responsible for handling O&M contracts directly in the road sector. It functions as a holding company for the overall infrastructure and has stakes in special purpose vehicles that are responsible for carrying out particular projects that we are doing.
There are now four SPVs that are active in the market. These special purpose vehicles (SPVs) comprise the company's subsidiaries as well as firms founded with other partners and in which the company does not have a majority stake.
